Roundabout Rules in Kenya

Kenya uses clockwise roundabouts (left-hand traffic). Understanding roundabout rules is essential for passing the NTSA theory test and driving safely on Kenyan roads.

The fundamental rule: give way to traffic already circulating in the roundabout, which comes from your right. Do not enter until there is a safe gap.

Key Rules

  • 1Give way to traffic from your right (already in the roundabout)
  • 2Signal left before your exit
  • 3Left turn or straight: use the left lane
  • 4Right turn or U-turn: use the right lane, move left before exiting
  • 5Never force entry. If the right side is active, wait.
